TaCOS Alpha

March 31, 2009

tacos_alpha1Okay, here it is: the first public demo of the TaCOS face software! When I’m totally done with the entire project, I’ll post a tutorial on how I made this face program. Right now, it’s just a cool front for text to speech, but it should give you an idea of how the finished product will look. As usual, it should be in the Box.net widget on the side of the site. Note: You need the .Net Framework 2.0 (maaaaaybe 3.0) for this to run. If you have Vista installed, you’re good. If not, it’s a free download. Sorry Mac users, Windows-only.

After the jump, see the Mock II image for TaCOS, with a slightly better but still pretty lame doctored-up image to try and show how the actual toaster should look.

tacos_mock2Wrong toaster model, slightly wrong colors, and the screen is all messed up (wrong proportions, the frame probably won’t be there in the final version), but it’s still more white than my original mockup:

tacos_conceptIf Mock I were glossy white instead of metallic silver, you’ve got yourself a winner for overall actual LOOK…but did I mention the glossy white?

  1. haha that would be the best toster ever( I’m thinking the toster won’t be making toast when your done with this)

problem, I downloaded the file, it opens up with Adobe, it says it is not supported or that the file is damage. With what program shoud this open up? or is it truly that the file is broken.

PS: I don’t know a F**K about computers, so please explain in the most simple way it can’t be explain….

  2. Well, the file you download is a .zip file, or “Compressed Folder.” What you’re going to want to do is right click on it and choose “Extract All” or whatever option your computer shows that means roughly the same. What that’ll do is extract the contents of the .zip file to a new folder, and you can run the files from there.

    Hope that helps!

  3. damn .zip files… apparently my computer dosen’t know how to unzip files, there should be an “Extract all” function, but there isin’t one. Last time I had a .zip file I had to take it to my teacher…. but he dosen’t work in my school no more…. ah well, I’ll see what I can do.

  4. There’s a great (free) program called 7-zip. That’s what I use for extracting compressed archives like this.

  5. I find to DL for windows:
    32-bit Type:.exe
    x64 Type:.msi

will any of the 2 work for vista, if so which one?

  6. It depends on if you’re using 32 bit or 64 bit. If you don’t know, you’re more than likely using 32-bit. You’ll want the one for “32-bit Type.”

  7. OMG this thing is F**king hilarious, I’ll have to tell my friend to get this on his laptop to mess around with it on school… (trust me, they can come up with some wierd shit)

this thing can even say RAGNAROCK( though if I write it in bold letters it can’t read it), also it says ploogle and Perrin Huppé.

only complain……. it dosen’t speak spanish…. :P it can say a couple of things right, but it just sounds too funny lol.

thanks for the help BTW, and sorry for bugging you such much :P but now I have something in the computer to keep me entertained when I’m bored :P
